March 2018 Newsletter

For I know the plans I have for you,” declares the LORD, “plans to prosper you and not to harm you, plans to give you hope and a future. Jeremiah 29:11

My Dear Friends
Greetings from Uganda!  The children have started another school year and are doing very well. I hope this finds everyone healthy and happy. I pray that this Lenten season is a time of great spiritual renewal for all.

Since we last spoke during the holidays, many exciting things have occurred and I want to share them with you.

We have broken ground for construction of the Convent!

I’m pleased to report that we have officially broken ground on the Convent! Thank you for all your prayers and generous financial support. They have allowed for us to undertake this wonderful and necessary addition to the campus at the Home of the Holy Angels.

I have included several recent pictures, so you can share in the joy of this event.

The construction schedule is underway, and our goal is to have the construction completed by October of this year. This will allow several Sisters to join the staff at The Home of the Holy Angels in early 2019. I am completing the application to the Mother Superior of the local order of Sisters. Once the convent is completed the assignments of our Sisters can be made. Once our Sisters have been chosen, I will send you a note welcoming the Sisters to the Home of the Holy Angels.

The addition of these Sisters are an important step for us at The Home of the Holy Angels. Not only will the Sisters be a tremendous addition to our teaching staff, they will also be an important part of our leadership team. With all the loss our children have been through, the Sisters will become family to our children, and help to bring them closer to our Lord.

More Great News!!! Once again our Primary Level 7 Graduates finish at the top of their district!

Last year, I reported to you the excellent results of our first class of graduates from Primary School. That first class of 14 graduates placed third in the entire Kibale district which consisted of approximately 400 schools. That placed us in the top 1% for school results.
This year our recent class of graduates continued the tradition of excellence! Our newest set of graduates finished FIRST among all schools in the new (180 schools) Kibale district.
As you can see, the children are performing exceptionally well and taking full advantage of the educational opportunity you are providing them. Thank you for making this possible!

I love the new look and think you will too. Please take a look and share it with your friends.

Thank you to everyone who offered their condolences on the passing of my mother.

I wanted to take the opportunity to share with you that my mother, Philomena, passed away in December at the age of 94. She had been suffering complications from minor surgery and was not able to recover. I have included below a picture of my mother with me as she was cutting her birthday cake a month before she died.

I was honored that the Bishop of our diocese was able to attend her funeral, along with eighty priests who also participated in her funeral Mass. I am very thankful that I was able to be in country with her when she went to be with the Lord. I would greatly appreciate your prayers for my family and for me at this difficult time.

Thank you for allowing me to share all of this news with you. Together let us thank the Lord for his continued blessings of The Home of the Holy Angels. I will continue to hold you in my prayers for your generosity and unending faith in our work. Thank you and may God bless you and your family.

Yours in Christ,
Fr. Charles Nabwana
