COVID-19 School Update October 2020

Greetings and blessings to our friends of the Home of the Holy Angels!

Dear Friends, as we have experienced here at home, Uganda has also been going through defining and implementing measures to ensure that the reopening of the nation’s schools is done carefully and safely. In recent weeks the Ugandan government has issued a large and very detailed set of guidelines to all schools that must be implemented prior to reopening.  Out of all the schools in the district, the Home of The Holy Angels obtained the highest rating!.

Among these guidelines were provisions for COVID-19 testing of each of the teachers and staff at the school. Despite having to travel a great distance into Kampala to obtain the testing in person, each of our teachers and staff were able to be successfully tested. In addition, each of the students are required to have their temperatures checked in the morning each day.

Out of all of the schools in the district, the Home of the Holy Angels obtained the highest rating in following the new guidelines! Given this, Fr. Charles has been authorized to begin re-opening classes beginning with our “Candidate” students; nineteen Primary 7 students and thirteen Secondary 4 students. This will allow them to resume preparations for their national education examinations which are required for advancement.

The remaining students will continue to stay with their temporary foster families until the government allows additional school openings to resume.

We are so thankful for the love and support that you show to Fr. Charles and the children. May God continue to bless and protect you and your families!
